Dialog Keutamaan: Ruwatan Orang Jawa dan Keutamaan Vinsensian Zelus Animarum sebagai Sarana Pastoral di Tanah Jawa
Abstract
Java is an island that has various cultures, one of which is ruwatan. Ruwatan itself is seen as an effort to keep the human person away from disaster. The discussion of virtues in this ruwatan culture is one of the characteristics of Javanese culture. Ruwatan is one part of Javanese life as a cleansing of one's soul from various disturbances. In the Christian context, the salvation of the soul is emphasised on zelus animarum as a Vincentian virtue with the aim of saving the soul. The method used is a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. One goal with different paths yearns for the salvation of human souls. The pastoral of the Church cannot be separated from the culture in which humans live; therefore, the dialogue of virtues becomes a means for the Church to carry out its mission of proclaiming the love of Christ. The primacy of ruwatan in the culture is juxtaposed with the primacy of Christianity zelus animarum which has noble goals for human life. The dialogue of the primacy of ruwatan and zelus animarum is a light for the Church to see God's work in human culture.
