Kedewasaan Manusiawi dan Rohani: Insight dari Formasio Hidup St. Vinsensius a Paulo

Human and spiritual maturity form the foundation for shaping an integral person, enabling someone to proclaim the Gospel authentically and credibly. The union of these two dimensions fosters empathy and a sense of responsibility in responding to the suffering of others. A theoretical-reflective study of the life of St Vincent de Paul is presented as an illustration to understand the process of self-formation in attaining that integrated maturity. Vincent’s life shows us that personal transformation is born from the courage to let go of false self-assurances and from an awareness of one’s responsibility in achieving personal maturity; both elements form part of the effort toward maturity. Other important outward signs of maturity include acceptance of one’s life background, an attitude of detachment, and an ongoing personal encounter with God. Here, maturity is understood not as an instant result but as the fruit of sustained formation that requires humility and practical exercises to break free from self-imposed limitations and to reach a broader and deeper life and spiritual horizon as well as consistent pastoral service. The implication is the importance of a holistic approach to formation that combines human and spiritual maturity to produce credible agents who can proclaim the faith and respond to the world around them.
