Abstract

This article examines the integration between eremitism and Vinsensian spirituality. Although these two forms of life may outwardly appear to stand in contrast, they share a profound common calling: to love God and to love one’s neighbor. Through a theological and reflective approach, this paper explores how eremitic values—such as prayer, silence, repentance, and simplicity—can serve as the inner foundation for service rooted in the Vinsensian spirit. The contemplative life provides spiritual strength so that service does not lose its direction and meaning, while service itself becomes a concrete expression of union with God. In the context of the modern world, marked by technological advancement, the pursuit of speed, and pervasive noise, the inner eremitic spirit embodied in acts of charity offers a relevant model of missionary spirituality for the Church today. The integration of contemplation and action—as lived by Saint Vincent de Paul—demonstrates that prayer and service are not opposing or separate paths, but two interdependent dimensions of the same divine calling.
