Santo Vinsensius Bapak Pembaharu Gereja
Abstract
This article talks about the life and works of Saint Vincent de Paul as a reformer of the Church in seventeenth-century France. At that time, the Church had problems in pastoral service because many priests chose to work in cities, while poor people in villages were often ignored. Through his life experiences and spiritual conversion, Vincent de Paul understood that his calling as a priest was not to seek personal wealth, but to serve poor and suffering people. This study uses a descriptive-narrative literature method based on books and writings about Vincentian spirituality. The study shows that Saint Vincent did many important works, such as founding the Congregation of the Mission, the Daughters of Charity, and charity groups for the poor. He also improved the formation of priests and encouraged the Church to be closer to people who suffer. His life and service are still important today because they remind Christians that the Church must care for the poor, the marginalized, and all people who need love and justice.
