Melampaui Keriuhan: Keheningan Santa Katarina Laboure di Era Post-Truth
Abstract
The post-truth era is currently affecting modern society, marked by a flood of information, opinions, and manipulations that often obscure the truth, making it difficult for individuals to find meaning in life and an authentic faith. This study aims to explore the significance of silence as a space for human growth, especially based on the spirituality of Saint Catherine Labouré, enriched by the reflections of Saint Vincent de Paul and the philosophical discourses of Søren Kierkegaard and Hannah Arendt, in order to provide a solution to the problems of banality and the disruption of faith in the post-truth era. The method used is qualitative, employing a descriptive-analytical approach and a literature study of related theological, philosophical, and biographical texts. The results show that silence is not an escape, but a creative resistance and a reflective space for discovering the truth, preserving purity of heart, and resisting the banality of the age. Silence is also essential for preserving the authenticity of human life, enabling individuals to move forward and serve others with greater compassion, love, and wisdom. Thus, silence can become a crucial instrument for addressing the challenges of the era by helping people find depth of faith and meaning in their lives amid the noise of post-truth.
